Navy sports information director Scott Strasemeier has been busily working on his postseason football notes package. Strasemeier has passed along a couple interesting notes, which I will begin to post periodically. Here is the first and it was a major reason for Navy's success in 2009. Navy led the nation in fewest penalties per game and fewest penalty yards per game.

Fewest Penalties Per Game
Rk    Penalties/Gm    Team
1.    3.4        Navy
2.    3.9        Connecticut
3.    4.0        UCF
4.    4.3        Penn State
5.    4.4        Iowa

Fewest Penalty Yards Per Game
Rk    Yards/Gm    Team
1.    29.6        Navy
2.    29.7        Connecticut
3.    31.2        Penn State
4.    34.4        Iowa
5.    37.6        UCF
