| Motorcycle Riding: 90% Being seen and the other half is experience. Posted: April 4, 10:58 am | (permalink) | (0 comments) To paraphrase Yogi Berra, to be a safe motorcycle rider you must be seen. A column at the edge of a car or truck windshield can completely block the view the driver. I have been observing motorcycles for the past month and how well they are visible. From the rear, a single dim tail light is not much, from the side most riders are all in black except for a reflective side marker, and from the front it's better because of the headlight. I am always looking for motorcycle riders but are other drivers? Reflective tape, jackets, and accessory lights all help. Take a good look at your overall visibility and go over your controls, horn, brake, and clutch pedal positions as the new riding season gets underway. Check tires, lights, and brakes. Then practice your counter steering.
