BOWIE BAYSOX OPENING DAY!!

Posted: April 8, 12:19 pm | (permalink) | (0 comments)

The countdown is in its final hours as they Bowie Baysox will open their season at home today against the Richmond Flying Squirrels at 7:05 p.m. The Squirrels are the Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants.

It looks as though Zach Britton will get the opening day start on the mound. During yesterday's Media Day at Prince George's Stadium, I had the opportunity to speak with coaches and players and there was a lot of excitement flowing throughout the clubhouse.

With any luck, I will have some photos and quotes up here at some point today or tomorrow. And all seasonlong Left Field and the print version of the Blade-News will be full of Baysox information, including Stephen Strasburg sightings at Prince George's Stadium when he visits with his Harrisburg Senators teammates, and other Eastern League news.

For all of you HometownAnnapolis readers, baseball writer John McNamara will be your guy at The Capital to follow for all things Baysox and Baltimore Orioles.

STAFF BLOG: LEFT FIELD

Left Field will address major sports news in Bowie, Mitchellville and Glenn Dale, as well as late-breaking information that occurs after the print edition of the Blade-News has passed its deadline. Left Field will also serve as an opportunity to take my print column, Out of Bounds, a step further.
