SUBMIT PHOTOS

Thank you for your interest in Gazette Camera and for considering submitting your own photographs for possible publication.

Photos are subject to approval of the Community News department. Digital copies are the preferred method of submission. If you want to have hard copies returned include a self-addressed, self-stamped envelope. Compact discs cannot be accepted.

When taking and submitting photographs, please:

  • Include one vertical photo, with 2 to 3 subjects.
  • Include three horizontal photos, with 3 to 4 subjects.
  • Shoot close-ups showing subjects from the waist up.
  • Do not include profiles or partially hidden faces.
  • Use plain backgrounds that don't detract from the people.
  • In dark rooms shoot close to a wall to avoid the "cave" effect.
  • Do not include the same person in multiple photos.
  • Identify subjects, from left to right, by name, hometown and age, if under 18.
  • Keep in mind that we prefer county residents.

Include several short paragraphs describing the event and organization including the who, what, where, when, why and how. If, for example, you raised money, how much did you raise and for what purpose? How many people attended the event? Is this an annual activity? How many volunteers coordinated the event? What activities were available? In short, describe as much as you can to make it interesting to readers. All copy is subject to editing.

When submitting your photos, please include your contact information so that you can be reached for any questions that might arise.
