Group to remove dams with stimulus money

WASHINGTON, D.C. - An environmental nonprofit group will use $4 million in economic stimulus funds to remove two outdated dams in the Patapsco Valley State Park.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said it the Patapsco River Restoration Project will create 42 jobs and benefit public safety, expand recreation opportunities and improve water quality on the lower Patapsco.

American Rivers will remove the Simkins and Union dams in Baltimore County over the next year.
