Fourth-graders become Ripken, Ruth and Unitas

When you're a student in fourth grade at St. Philip Neri School, the last part of the year in social studies class is spent studying Maryland.

So, to end the school year on an interesting note, teachers Robin Smith and Shirley Brockmeyer let each student choose a famous Marylander to study. The students were to research the life of the person they chose, from basic statistics to fun facts.

Then the students were instructed to come to school dressed as their famous Marylander and be prepared to give a one-minute oral report to their classmates.
