The Freetown Village branch of the Boys and Girls Club of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County had the privilege of hosting an Olympic Day Proclamation Celebration on Friday.

During the event County Executive John R. Leopold presented the proclamation that June 23 would be celebrated locally as Olympic Day, in support of Chicago's bid for hosting the 2016 Olympic Games and in honor of the convening of the first International Olympic Committee on June 23, 1894.

The site for the 2016 Olympic Games will be announced in October.
