Encaustic paintings created by Joyce Fries-Brune of Pasadena will be on display in the North County Area library's meeting room, 1010 Eastway, Monday through Nov. 30.

A reception to meet the artist will be held from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 16.

Fries-Brune's goal as an artist is to engage and absorb viewers into the work. The display at the library will feature paintings portraying the splendor of everyday living.

Recognized for its outstanding quality and depiction in PaintAmerica's national Paint the Parks 100 competition in 2008, her work was among the Second 100 award winners.
