The disastrous earthquake in Haiti has motivated staff and students at area schools to raise funds for relief efforts. Staff at both Marley and Point Pleasant elementary schools raised funds by making donations for the right to wear jeans to school on a certain day. Marley's staff raised $653 to donate to the American Red Cross. Point Pleasant's staff raised $435 that was donated to Rick Frechette, a medical doctor and Passionist priest who is acquainted with the family of second-grade teacher Ashley Krause.
