Marie Reem, patient care technician at Baltimore Washington Medical Center, traveled to Kenya in August 2008 with Mountain Christian Church in Fallston after a friend who attends the church told her about the trip. "It was an awesome experience. We went out into the bush to serve the tribe," Reem said.

She came back and told her colleagues about the experience and when her own church, Abundant Life Church in Glen Burnie, decided to organize a mission trip, it just snowballed.
