As the County Council considers a replacement for outgoing Councilman Ed Reilly, it surely will be thinking of slots. Reilly left his position last week to fill a state Senate vacancy left by Republican Janet Greenip. He was a strong proponent of zoning legislation that will allow slot machines in the western part of the county. Reilly's vote was crucial to slots because the council is divided on the issue. Without him, there are two council members supporting the zoning change, two against and two undecided. Four votes are needed for the measure to pass.
