County share of flu vaccine hits 45,000

But doctors offices, clinics still scrambling to inoculate 270,000 in priority groups

In September, doctors with Maryland Primary Care Physicians ordered 8,000 doses of H1N1 flu vaccine from the state, sure that the medication would be in high demand.

They were right.

Unfortunately for the Millersville-based network of doctor's offices, they only received 500 doses. And they only received them last week,

"So we've had some problems," said Dr. Jerry Levine, a physician in the company's Columbia office. "We really used that to immunize our staff (at our 11 locations) and the highest risk individuals. It went in a couple hours."
