While most Christmas revelers are preparing to hand loved ones the latest electronic gadget or fashion accessory, Annapolis business man Court Blatchford has given the gift of life.

The modest, soft-spoken advertising executive spent Monday working in his office even though 24 hours later he would be donating a kidney to a stranger.

Now he's resting comfortably after a successful surgery, coping with some post-operative soreness. He should be home for Christmas.

"I just saw this as a great opportunity to save a life," he said.
