| Disabled vets to get bigger checks

A tweak in county law will bring larger disability checks to veterans who left behind county jobs to serve in the military. The County Council Monday night voted unanimously to pay those workers as if they were disabled while working for the county. "I feel like if they are offering their lives to the country, it's only the right thing to do," said Councilman Charles W. Ferrar, an Edgewater Democrat who co-sponsored the bill.
