| State approves fly ash landfill

The state has tentatively said yes to a fly ash landfill just over the county line. Jay Apperson, a spokesman for the Maryland Department of the Environment, said yesterday that the agency has prepared a draft permit allowing Constellation Energy to dump fly ash, a byproduct of its two coal-fired plants in Pasadena, at an existing landfill at Millennium Inorganic Chemicals in Baltimore. MDE will hold a hearing on the matter at 6:30 p.m. on March 17 at the Curtis Bay Recreation Center to take comments from area residents.
