| Union questions self-reporting of arrests for schools

County school employees charged, arrested or convicted of a crime would be required to turn themselves in to the school system's investigations office under a new policy reviewed last week by the county Board of Education. Officials say it would help them make schools safer for students, but the proposal drew sharp words from union leaders. They claim the policy is riddled with unanswered questions about employee privacy and who would see the arrest information once it's reported.
