For parishioners at Holy Cross Antiochian Orthodox Church, today is the culmination of more than a month of praying, fasting, soul searching and reflection.

At 11:30 p.m. the Rev. Gregory Mathewes-Green will emerge in what will be a dark church holding a single candle and say:

"Receive the light."

His congregation will follow Mathewes-Green in a procession around the stone church in Linthicum. When they re-enter, candle light, the smell of incense and the sound of songs proclaiming the resurrection will fill the room.
