Club cancels fishing derby after fish killPASADENA - The Pasadena Sportfishing Group has canceled its annual April Kid's Fishing Derby at Lake Waterford. The county closed the manmade pond at Lake Waterford Park after 500 fish turned up dead last month. The Maryland Department of the Environment said the trout, gizzard shad and sunfish died because of a lack of oxygen in the water. MDE investigators believe that too much nitrogen and phosphorous pollution caused the fish kill. The county is cleaning up the fish, MDE officials said.
