Jailed candidate drops out of race

PASADENA - A candidate for County Council jailed last week on an outstanding warrant resigned last night from the race.

Perry Ealim, the business consultant from Pasadena who was seeking the Republican nomination for council in District 3, issued an e-mail statement at 6:30 p.m. saying that he was throwing his support behind Derek Fink.

Although he never spelled out that he was quitting the race in the statement, Ealim left no doubt that he felt he had let his supporters down.
