Covering the bases: Tailor insurance policies to individual, not family

My husband and I are looking into long-term care insurance policies. We are both in our 50s. The agents we are talking to have written up policies that are exactly the same for both of us.

I don't think we should both buy the same coverage. My husband's family has a history of dying suddenly after short periods of illness, while my family enjoys longevity and most have lived well into their 80s. Can we buy policies with different coverage? Will we still get a discount for husband and wife coverage even if we don't have exactly the same coverage?

You are wise to look into a long-term care policy now while you are still young...
