| Sports comment: MRSA outbreak nothing to ignore

What started out as a few cases of a highly contagious, but seldom mentioned infections has turned into an state-wide epidemic. Unfortunately, a lot of people tried to minimize the news of the first cases of Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus, better known now simply as MRSA. They didn't heed warnings about the sometimes fatal infections. MRSA infections have been diagnosed in athletes throughout the region and have been serious enough to force some schools to be closed and disinfected. At least one person has died.
