Barbara Beck

Barbara Beck, 66, a 37-year resident of Glen Burnie and a horse racing jockey, died of natural causes Oct. 22 at Gilchrist Hospice.

Mrs. Beck was born June 13, 1942, in Baltimore, to Martha Deputy of Ohio and the late Harry Jeffra.

She was a woman who had an affinity for horses; she started as a jockey with the Maryland Racing Commission and also worked at racetracks as an admissions attendant.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Vincent T. Beck.

Survivors include one daughter, Lauren Spiller-Holtzman of Glen Burnie; one sister, Deborah Hake of Ohio; two brothers, Arthur Jeffra...
