The success of The Decemberists lends credence to the "concept album" form, which consists of a CD-length song-cycle best heard from beginning to end. Colin Meloy and The Decemberists released the album "Picaresque and Her Majesty," a song cycle inspired by the children's book "The Crane Wife" to widespread critical acclaim. They'll perform songs from their three albums tonight at Rams Head Live! in Baltimore (doors 7 p.m., all ages welcome).
