County police seek help finding sex offenders

County police checked in on Anne Arundel County's 358 registered sex offenders last month and found nearly a dozen were in violation.

It was the second "round up" the Sexual Offender Registry Squad has conducted this year, said Sgt. Carl Klapaska, supervisor of the county police Sex Offense Unit. Officers found eight offenders during the May round up who were not in compliance.

Nearly four dozen officers fanned out in the county from Oct. 6 to Oct. 29. Detectives checked on all registered sex offenders in Anne Arundel to ensure they have complied with their registration obligations and to confirm their information was accurate...
