| Brooklyn Park seeks arts district designation

The county will ask the state to designate part of Brooklyn Park as an arts and entertainment district, an initiative aimed at revitalizing the neighborhood. If approved, the label would grant tax incentives to artists and arts-themed businesses that set up shop in the area centered around the Chesapeake Arts Center, according to legislation introduced Monday by Councilman Daryl Jones, D-Severn. "Brooklyn Park is just a phenomenal area for potential growth," said Jones, who represents the area. "And right now, there is nothing really in north county that is a destination."
