Another year, and there’s another round of bad news about the Chesapeake Bay’s signature blue crabs. Watermen are again facing more harvest restrictions. Recreational crabbers are fighting the unpopular idea of requiring licenses for everyone. The government is doling out money to compensate for the negative effects of a harvest that’s officially been called a “disaster.” Scientists are literally scraping the bottom of the bay to count crabs and see if any of this is working yet.
