Six people were laid off here at the Maryland Gazette as part of the wider cutbacks that affected more than 110 people at our parent company, Capital-Gazette Newspapers.

It was a painful step. We lost co-workers and friends, and the lives of both those who lost their jobs and those who stayed have been changed.
