Armed man shot by police dies

SEVERN - A man shot by county police after he pointed a rifle at an officer Friday afternoon died from his injuries early Saturday morning.

Rickey Lee Kitzmiller, 42, of 8049 Veterans Highway in Millersville, was pronounced dead at 6 a.m. Saturday at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

Kitzmiller was shot just after noon on Friday shortly after police were called to a home in the 7900 block of Quarterfield Road to investigate a domestic assault. A woman told police her boyfriend, Kitzmiller, threatened her with a rifle and was assaulting her mother, who is in her 70s.
