Police name officer who killed armed man in Severn

When Cpl. Stephen A. Taylor fired at an armed man in Severn this month, it wasn't the first time he'd shot at someone threatening to kill him.

Taylor, a 13-year veteran of the county Police Department, shot and injured another armed man in May 2006.

Justin Mulcahy, a county Police Department spokesman, confirmed that Taylor was involved in a nonfatal shooting in 2006. He was cleared in that case by the department and the State's Attorney's office, Mulcahy said.
