Adetokunbo Ogunlaja, a fifth-grade student at Hilltop Elementary School, was crowned Little Miss Ferndale Sunday in the annual community contest. She was crowned by last year's winner Maliya Morris. The winner's first words after receiving the honor were "I'm so happy!"

Second place was awarded to Johari Joseph, a fourth-grade student at Hilltop Elementary School, and third place went to Brandi Baumes, another fourth-grader at Hilltop Elementary School.

Hilltop's principal Louise DeJesu and assistant principal Sandy Blondell braved the rain to cheer on their students.
