Home sales continue to slow while prices drop

Anne Arundel County home prices dropped last month and sales slowed amid the national fallout from the subprime mortgage market.

Homes also were sitting on the market nearly twice as long as they were at this time last year.

The 600 homes sold last month represented a 9 percent decrease from April 2006, according to Metropolitan Regional Information Systems, a Rockville-based listing service.

April's sales were also down from March, when buyers snapped up 634 homes.

In Pasadena, April home sales dropped about 20 percent compared to March, though the average selling price increased by 12 percent to about $378,000....
