Weekend Boys Lacrosse: Northeast rolls over Patuxent

Northeast rolled to a victory over Patuxent Saturday in the 3A-2A East quarterfinals as attackman Donovan Lange had three goals and five assists and attackman Corbin Voelker supplied three goals and four assists.
Attackman Mark Donahey netted four goals for the winners and midfielders Mike Tibbs and Zach West both contributed a pair of scores.

SEVERNA PARK 12, OLD MILL 4: Severna Park jumped to a big lead and cruised past Old Mill Saturday, 12-4, and into the 4A-3A East semifinals.

Adam MacBride scored four goals, and Kyle Zorn added two for Severna Park (14-2).

"We finished a few shots early," Falcons coach Larry Kramer said. "Old Mill played tough. They played hard for four quarters, but it was pretty much over after the third."

SOUTHERN 23, KENT COUNTY 3: Eight Bulldogs scored at least two goals in a 20-point victory over the Trojans in the 2A-1A East quarterfinals Saturday.

Nick Nonziato, Zach Jackson and Nick Johnson scored hat tricks to lead Southern (6-6) into the semifinals.

Jack Rogers scored twice and recorded a game-high three assists for Southern.

KENT ISLAND 13, J.M. BENNETT 7: Joey Thomas scored five goals Saturday to lead the Buccaneers into the 3A-2A East semifinals.

Kent Island (12-1) jumped out to a 7-5 lead at the half and held J.M. Bennett to two goals in the second half. Buccaneers goalkeeper Jeff Joyce made 15 saves.

SPALDING 12, LOYOLA 9: Junior attackman Andrew Scalley scored five goals and assisted another as Archbishop Spalding rallied to upset Loyola in a critical MIAA A Conference boys lacrosse matchup on Friday night.

Sophomore midfielder Brian Cooper totaled two goals and an assist while junior midfielder Mike Poiter scored two goals for Spalding, which completed the regular season 8-7 overall and 5-5 in the conference. Junior attackman Matt Burke and senior midfielder Rich May contributed a goal and assist apiece for the Cavaliers, who clinched the sixth and final seed for their first A Conference playoff berth.

Goalkeeper Tyler Powell made 11 saves for Spalding.
