If we were asked to come up with a theme that is true of all newspaper stories, it might be this: While a few people are worse than you might fear, most people are better than you might hope. We got confirmation of this once again in the last few days, in the case of Kim Gayleard of Brooklyn Park and her missing wheelchair. Mrs. Gayleard has had to use a wheelchair for 18 years. She was born with spina bifida and developed lymphoedema in a leg. In spite of this, she is an active community member who home-schools her three children, leads a Girl Scout troop, teaches Sunday School for children with disabilities, and helps run a...
