Local teen brings 'attitude of professionalism' to dance studies

When performing for a panel of Maryland Distinguished Scholar judges earlier this year, Danielle Cook of Pasadena danced just like she always does.

"She took it as another performance," said her mother, Lucy Cook. "It wasn't something she was sweating."

Already having prepared three dance solos in jazz, lyrical and contemporary styles, she rehearsed for an hour three times with one of her dance teachers. She won a $12,000 scholarship as a finalist in talent in the arts for dance. The scholarship can be used at any state university or college.
