Hebron proved himself to all of his doubters

Chuck Hebron didn’t look like much when he stepped onto the football field, basketball court or baseball diamond. The Hanover native was all of 5-foot-8 and 150 pounds when he arrived at Arundel High.

“I was small so I always had to prove myself on the field,” said Hebron, who will be inducted into the Anne Arundel County Sports Hall of Fame next Wednesday.

It didn’t take long for the doubters to become believers as Hebron not only played, he excelled. He was a game-breaking halfback for the Arundel High football team that captured the 1975 Class AA state championship. He was a slick-fielding second baseman and fleet-footed...
